FACULTY-LED STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS

Study abroad not only benefits students but contributes to the internationalization of the UB campus. Increasingly students come to UB looking to include study abroad as part of their university education. UB faculty play a crucial role in promoting study abroad by encouraging students to explore opportunities, assisting with the development of semester exchange programs, and leading short-term study abroad programs.

Overseas academic programs at the University at Buffalo are facilitated and administered by Study Abroad Programs, which is part of the Office of International Education. Proposals for faculty-led study abroad programs should originate with faculty and carry the endorsement of the department chair.

Faculty interested in proposing a new study abroad program are encouraged to meet with the Director of Study Abroad Programs to discuss the intended proposal and timeline. Formal submission of a program proposal is required by completing the Study Abroad Program Proposal Form. Program proposals should be submitted as far in advance as possible; preferably no later than two full semesters before the program would begin (e.g. a summer program proposal should be submitted by September of the previous year).
