Polytechnic University of Valencia

The city of Valencia, an industrial and touristic city on the East coast of Spain, is the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. Valencia is one of the most important capitals of Spain and a popular destination for students in Europe.

The Polytechnic University of Valencia (Universitat Politècnica de València or UPV) is a public, dynamic and innovative institution devoted to research and high-quality education that keeps strong connections with its socioeconomic context and focuses on its internationalization. UPV has managed to gain a well earned reputation of being one of the best ranked Engineering universities in Spain. The university is made up of 13 Schools, which are split up into three Campuses: Vera (Valencia), Gandia and Alcoy Campus.
UPV offers a number of courses taught in English available to both UPV and international students.  University at Buffalo senior Electrical Engineering students will take graduate level courses at UPV, and will coordinate course choices with the department. The Office of International Exchange Programs (OPII) provides help and information on accommodation. During the welcome meeting at Orientation, UPV will give an updated list of flats which are found here.  There are various types of accommodation you can choose while staying in Valencia:
  • Sharing a flat with other students.
  • Staying with a host family.
  • Staying in the Residence Halls

UPV operates on a semester system but the fall semester does not end until mid-February. Therefore, students are encouraged to apply for the full year or spring semester.  

If you would like to study for Fall Semester only, please notify UB Study Abroad Programs prior to opening an application, as special arrangements will need to be made.
