Program Description:

Italy: Istituto Lorenzo de' Medici - Rome (Summer)


Central Square     Rome Fountain     Colosseum

Lorenzo de' Medici Rome is located near the city's center in an elegant Umbertine palace in the government and business district. The premises offer an intimate academic setting that counterbalances the vibrant life of the Italian capital city. Students benefit from particularly small class sizes and are individually assisted during their entire stay.

ACADEMIC PROGRAM
During the summer, students can participate in one or two summer sessions taking one or two courses (3-6 credits) during each session. Students can choose courses in subjects such as:
Anthropology
Architecture
Art
Art History
Classics
English
Environmental Studies
Geography
History
Italian
Nutrition
Political Science
Psychology
Sociology

ACCOMMODATION
LdM's experienced on-site housing coordinators facilitate student housing placement. Accommodation in a double room in a student shared apartment is included in the program fee.

LdM Rome Housing Service includes:
• Rent, with fixed check-in and check-out dates
• Repairs not caused by students
• Any costs above the average consumption will be charged to the students sharing the same apartment and deducted from the housing deposit
• Bus pass
• Internet connection

LdM Rome Housing Service does not include:
• Meals
• Damage caused by student
• Extra cleaning (If the apartment is not clean on the specified check-out date, students will be responsible for an additional cleaning charge)

Housing Request Deadlines:
Summer Session I (June): April 15th
Summer Session II (July): May 15th
Summer Sessions I & II (June & July): April 15th

The budgets above include accommodation in a double room shared student apartment. Students who are interested in single room accommodations can request an updated budget sheet from the Office of Study Abroad Programs at UB.

PROGRAM DATES
There are two summer sessions offered at the LdM Rome campus. Students can choose to participate in one or both sessions. The dates for Summer 2018 are:

Summer Session I: May 24 - June 22
Summer Session II: June 28 - July 27

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
This program is open to University at Buffalo sophomores, juniors, and seniors with at least a 2.8 overall GPA. The application includes a study statement, one academic recommendation, and an official transcript.
