Program Description:

Singapore Institute of Management

SIM1     SIM4    NTU2
Singapore is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city-state that is situated between Malaysia and Indonesia. It is one of the most globalized cities and also considered to be one of the safest countries in the world. As a leading center of international trade, it is home to the headquarters of many multinational companies. Although the national language is Malay, Singapore has adopted English as the language of administration and the primary medium of instruction. Most Singaporeans are able to speak English in addition to Mandarin, Malay, or Tamil.

Founded in 1964, the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) is one of Singapore’s oldest and finest private education organizations. SIM offers the widest range of high-quality academic programs in Singapore through its partnerships with established international universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Switzerland. With an enrollment exceeding 20,000, SIM Global Education offers more than 50 academic programs at the undergraduate, graduate, diploma, and certificate levels. As an independent, not-for-profit, professional membership organization, SIM boasts a strong network of about 27,000 individual and corporate members, including SIM students.

UB was the first American university to establish a full-time US undergraduate branch campus in Singapore, located on the campus of SIM. The UB program currently offers undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, Communication, Economics, International Trade, Psychology, and Sociology.  The enrollment in UB's programs in Singapore currently exceeds 1,500 students.

ACADEMIC PROGRAM
The semester program will be located at the main campus of the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), where UB currently offers undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, Communication, Economics, Psychology, and Sociology. Students will be able to choose courses from the UB undergraduate degree programs offered at SIM. These are all UB courses so they will count exactly the same toward degree requirements as courses taken on the UB campus in Buffalo. Students are expected to take 15 credits for the semester.

Please view the list of courses available for fall and spring semesters:
Fall 2016 SIM Courses          Spring 2017 SIM Courses
Special topics courses may be offered.  The timetables and course sections are released after the application deadline, so please check with UB Study Abroad Programs for further information.

ACCOMMODATION
UB students on the semester program will be housed in a Hwa Chong student residence with single rooms and an attached private bathroom. Hwa Chong facilities include a fitness center, dining hall, swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, and music rooms.  In fewer than 10 minutes, students can walk to the bus stop, with three direct buses to the SIM campus. The cost of the housing is included in the UB Program Fee.
